On Feb. 5, the California State Water Resources Control Board approved a new statewide stormwater permit affecting 200 small cities and government facilities. Small cities are defined as those with 100,000 people or less. This permit replaces the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit that expired in May 2008 and will take effect July 1.
