The Urban Water Resources Research Council, a subdivision of the Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), has developed a short survey to obtain input from users and interested parties regarding the International Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) Database.
Click to take the survey.
The survey will be one tool to help
- understand how the database is currently being used,
- support prioritization of future tools and enhancements, and
- identify opportunities to maximize future benefits to the stormwater community.
Since the mid-1990s, the International Stormwater BMP Database project has provided a growing centralized resource to support communities addressing stormwater quality issues. Over time, the coalition of database sponsors has broadened. Initially funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the urban stormwater BMP effort is now supported by the
- Water Environment and Reuse Foundation (WE&RF, previously the Water Environment Research Foundation),
- EWRI/ASCE,
- Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and
- American Public Works Association (APWA).
The project recently has expanded to include resources for agricultural BMPs and stream restoration practices. It also houses the National Stormwater Quality Runoff Database. The success of the BMP Database is due to the many researchers and local governments throughout the U.S. and internationally who continue to volunteer their monitoring data with this publicly accessible resource to advance stormwater management practice.
The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete and will remain open until July 1, 2016.
