The European Commission is seeking comments on a possible revision of the European Union’s 2006 Groundwater Directive. While the directive sets limits for certain pollutants, it simply requires that member countries take other naturally occurring and synthetic pollutants into consideration. During the consultation period, open until Oct. 22, The commission is seeking public opinion on whether limits should be set for these additional pollutants, which include trichloroethylene, an industrial solvent; and tetrachloroethylene, a dry-cleaning chemical.
