On Feb. 13, Abtech Holdings Inc. announced it will begin a stormwater disinfection project this quarter at a beach area along the Great Lakes. The beach suffers high levels of fecal coliforms from sewers and wild-animal waste. The project, partially funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), involves the use of the company’s Smart Sponge® Plus technology, an antimicrobial product registered with EPA for outdoor use. The company will focus on stormwater detention vault systems in the principal stormwater outflow pipes. Read more.
